Each quarter, Delivering Good sits down with one of our community partners to discuss the work that they do in their communities. This quarter, we’re highlighting Denver Health Foundation. This non-profit supports Denver’s public safety net hospital, Denver Health, that cares for many low-income children and families. They told us that they “care for one in every three children in Denver and 85% of them are living below Federal Poverty Levels.”
Representatives from Denver Health Foundation shared the story of a single mother with us: “A single mother showed up at one of our Family Health centers with her two young children. They had just arrived from Honduras and were tired and frightened. Tragically, Dad had died along the way during their long trek north. Our clinic staff was able to provide KIDBOX school clothing, Burt’s Bees pajamas and Bob’s shoes from generous Delivering Good donations. She wept with tears of joy and relief.”
The new product donated through Delivering Good creates a sense of dignity in people in need as they rebuild their lives. Denver Health Foundation is able to meet the many needs of their community, in addition to healthcare services, with the donations from Delivering Good. They rely on donations from Delivering Good to create a comprehensive experience for their patients, providing them with high-quality, useful items and daily necessities.
One example of the impact of these donations is the story of a new father from Syria at his wife’s bedside in the maternity ward. “Mom and the new baby were surrounded by visitors siting in a circle on the floor—all of them newly arrived refugees. When I delivered a ‘Warm Welcome Bag’ as we do for all newborns, he saw that it was filled with beautiful new items of necessity—items that had been donated by Delivering Good. He rushed to his feet, took my hand with both of his own, and said ‘Thank you! Thank you! God bless America!’”
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, Delivering Good is able to work with Denver Health and hundreds of other community partners throughout the country, serving the populations most in need. Whether it’s rebuilding from a natural disaster or responding to the daily disaster of poverty, Delivering Good is there to support these organizations and their local communities.
