A birthday is a special day in a child’s life. Unfortunately, many children are unable to celebrate this day to the fullest due to certain circumstances. Beverly’s Birthdays aims to change that. The organization, which began its partnership with Delivering Good in 2017, provides birthday cheer for homeless children and families in need.
“We believe that every child, regardless of personal or financial circumstances, deserves a very special birthday,” says Executive Director and Founder, Megan Yunn. “Through our six birthday cheer programs, we are able to celebrate 30,000 birthdays annually. The children and families we serve are all living at or below the poverty line and dealing with a variety of stressors: abuse/neglect, trauma, mental health issues, addiction, and lack of basic needs.” The organization’s Birthday Boutique program, which began in August 2018, has served 400 shoppers, all of whom received product provided by Delivering Good. In addition, over 4,000 children were gifted with LEGOs on their birthdays or in classrooms.
As the organization moves forward, they plan to increase their service from 80 shoppers a month to over 200 shoppers, which would help 2,400 children annually. “It is amazing to be able to provide these families with high-quality, adorable clothing. It’s great to see the children’s faces light up, but the mothers are equally excited about the whole ‘shopping’ experience because they get to pick out items for their children that they would never be able to afford, if not for Beverly’s Birthdays and Delivering Good.”
