Lisa Gurwitch, Delivering Good President & CEO Stepping Down Following Two Years of Record Product Donations

Serving as Delivering Good’s President & CEO since 2015, Lisa Gurwitch has announced that she is stepping down to pursue a new opportunity.

Delivering Good made significant progress under Gurwitch’s leadership: building a more diverse board, launching a Racial Equity pilot program, establishing a strong technology infrastructure, and expanding its community partner network to more than 1,000 nonprofits across the country.

Faced with difficult circumstances over the past two years, including domestic natural disasters, Afghan refugees’ settlement, and the ongoing pandemic and it’s related economic consequences, millions of families and individuals continue to struggle and depend on the critical items provided by Delivering Good.

During 2020 – 2021, Delivering Good distributed a record $500 million in new merchandise, including $200 million in 2021 and an unprecedented $289 million in 2020. The organization also received it’s largest ever grant of $400,000 from Islamic Relief USA to assist Afghan refugees, as well as a $300,000 in-kind donation from technology leader SAP to assist Delivering Good in the development of its product distribution platform.

“I feel really proud of the work and the impact that we’ve had over the past seven years. We have a phenomenal board of directors and team and we’ve been able to help millions of people. I like to think I helped us grow our impact and build a solid foundation for the future,” Said Gurwitch

Gary Simmons, who previously served on the board of Delivering Good for more than 20 years, including more than four years as co-chair, will take over as interim CEO until a permanent president and CEO is assigned.

Before joining Delivering Good, Gurwitch was a senior vice president for Institutional Advancement and External Relations at World Learning. Earlier, Gurwitch took over various roles at The Jewish Community Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin, and Sonoma Counties, including serving as executive director. Today Gurwitch will be leaving Delivering Good and joining the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee as chief advancement officer.
